Denim and Dust, or “a street fair on the square,” is scheduled here next Friday and Saturday. Businesses and vendors will gather downtown to sell goods for the event.
The businesses will be decorated for Christmas and they will offer special sales and drawings. Denim and Dust is hosted by the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce.
The River of Life facility will be housing vendors for the event as will the Chamber and Dal Paso Museum.
“So, we’ve got plenty of space for folks and, of course, outdoor spaces too if they want to sign up for that,” Chamber President Sandra Adams said.
The Holiday Happening event, which also involves vendors selling goods around Christmas time, will be underway in Lubbock on the same days as Denim and Dust.
“We had to try to get it (Denim and Dust) around the other events around us. Holiday Happening is a five-day event, so we figured, well, if people really want to go to Holiday Happening and us, they’ve got plenty of time to do that,” Adams said.
Post will have a similar event this coming weekend, and Big Spring’s equivalent activities were held last weekend.
“We tried not to hit on any of the smaller town things, and it’s hard not to hit somebody’s during the holiday season,” Adams said.
However, Adams said the vendors who participate in Holiday Happening usually do not participate in Denim and Dust anyway.
