A benefit softball tournament will be held at Forrest Park next weekend to raise funds for Lili Gutierrez.
That tournament will be held next Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13-14. It will begin around 8 or 9 a.m., depending on how many teams register.
Proceeds from the event will be presented to Lili Gutierrez, who underwent costly surgeries after an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) hemmoraged in her brain in June.
Event organizer Matthew Lopez said the previous planned dates for the tournaments were both rescheduled due to rain, so he hopes everyone can come out and show their support.
The entry fee is $200 for each softball team in the tournament. A maximum of 14 teams will participate. Lopez said he is hoping the maximum number of teams will register and he still is looking for teams interested in participating in the tournament.
Each team will pay $20 at the plate and the winning team will get its money back.
Unlimited home run bracelets will cost $20 for a maximum of five per team. Whoever wears the wristbands will be able to hit an unlimited number of home runs in the tournament.
Tournament winners will win the following prizes: first place, trophy and shirts; and second and third place, T-shirts.
