Three male juveniles were arrested this past week and charged with a recent rash of burglaries of a motor vehicle and felony theft of a firearm, according to information from the Lamesa Police Department.
All three were transported to the Garza County Juvenile Detention Center, Chief of Police Dale E. Alwan Sr. said on Friday.
The police department received reports this past week of 16 motor vehicle burglaries in the northeast part of town, Chief Alwan said.
Those burglaries occurred overnight between the hours of 10 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.
During the investigation, Chief Alwan said, officers with the Lamesa Police Department executed a search warrant for the residence at 1606 North 10th Street in Lamesa.
As a result of that search warrant, he said, officers located several items, including a loaded Beretta .9mm handgun, cash, an iPod, cell phones and other items that had been reported stolen in the vehicle burglaries.
Chief Alwan said anyone who has any information on this or any other crime is asked to contact the Lamesa Police Department at 806-872-2121 or the Dawson County Crime Line at 806-872-TIPS (806-872-8477).
