With this Friday being the filing deadline for candidates, no contested races had developed by Wednesday morning in the upcoming elections for the City of Lamesa, Lamesa ISD and Dawson County Hospital District.
At least one candidate, including only one incumbent, has filed for each of the three places that will be up for election in May on the Lamesa City Council.
Both current incumbent board members have filed for re-election for the two at-large positions on the Lamesa school board, while only two incumbent board members have filed for re-election to three places on the hospital board.
The filing period for qualified candidates will continue through this Friday, Feb. 17, at the respective entity’s office in City Hall, the School Administration Building or Medical Arts Hospital.
Elections for those places will be held on May 6.
The Mesa Underground Water Conservation District will not hold a board election this year, since it only conducts elections in even-number years.
