Local and area veterans are encouraged to attend three events being planned here this Friday by Lamesa ISD students in recognition of Veterans Day.
Those events will be held to commemorate all who have served in the military.
While Veterans Day actually will fall on Sunday, the schools will offer their programs for local veterans on Friday.
Lamesa High School
Lamesa High School will provide breakfast for veterans at the Senior Citizens Center on Friday, from 7 to 9 a.m.
A lot of organizations will be helping run the event, culinary arts instructor and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisor Kevin Pedroza said.
The event will be led by the FCCLA culinary arts students with help from members of LHS’s one act play, Student Council, and Business Professionals of America (BPA).
All veterans will be fed at the breakfast, which has had quite a few veterans show up in past years, Pedroza said.
Lamesa Middle School
Lamesa Middle School will hold its veterans  assembly at 10 a.m. Friday in Follis Gymnasium.
