Additional discussion about potential candidates for the executive director’s vacancy is expected to take up the majority of a special called meeting of the local economic development boards later this week.
The joint boards of the Lamesa Economic Development Corporation and Lamesa Economic Alliance Project will meet at 12 noon Friday at 611 North 2nd Street.
Last week board members authorized Scott Leonard, president of both boards, to begin negotiations with “a preferred candidate” for possible hiring.
The agenda for Friday’s meeting does provide for action to be taken on personnel matters, but Leonard said this week that he does not know whether or not the board will take any action at that time.
Board members are expected to meet for the majority of Friday’s special called meeting in a closed, executive session to “discuss negotiations related to ongoing and/or proposed economic development and community development incentive projects” and to “discuss personnel matters.”
Mike Barnes with the Mike Barnes Group, Inc., was hired by the EDC boards to conduct the search for a new executive director, following the resignation of Nathan Tafoya.
