Eight of high school track’s events will be represented by at least one area athlete in the UIL Class 1A State Track and Field Championships coming up this Friday and Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
The Borden County Coyotes will be represented by six of their high school athletes in this weekend’s state track meet, including senior Nick Proulx and sophomore Hailey Lowrey.  Proulx will be running in the Class 1A boys’ state 200-meter dash for the second year in a row and also will be running on the Coyotes’ 1,600-meter relay.  After running in the 1A state 1,600-meter run last year as a freshman, Lowrey will be running in that race as well as the 3,200 this weekend at Austin.
Joining Proulx on that 1,600-meter relay will be seniors Easton Edwards, Morgan Wilson and Ryan Willborn. Senior Trace Richey and junior Payton Merket are a couple of other possibilities on that relay.
“All six of those guys have ran in it before and all six ran  on it pretty well, too. Any out of  those six could be running on it again this weekend,” BC Coach Trey Richey said of his state-bound 1,600-meter  relay.
BC sophomore Mattie Brumbelow also will be running the 100-meter hurdles at this weekend’s state track meet.
