    Gloria Ellen Whitener Shaw passed from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday April 24, 2018 at the age of 78.
    She was born on September 4, 1939 to Herman Lee Whitener and Dottie Mae (Rhine) Whitener in Wheeler, Texas.
    Gloria grew up in Levelland and graduated from Levelland High School in 1957. She met R.C. Shaw in 1957 at a football game (introduced by a mutual friend) and they married on August 10, 1957 at First Baptist Church, Smyer, Texas. Gloria and R.C. lived in Lubbock, where their son Randy was born.  
    They relocated to Lamesa, Texas in 1988. Gloria worked at the Vogue Dress Shop on the square in Lamesa, and at the Lamesa Press-Reporter for 18 years.
    She is preceded in death by her parents.
    She is survived by her husband R.C., son Randy (and Eric) of Houston, brother Bill Whitener (and Ollie) of McKinney, sister Donna Miller of Lubbock, sister Shirley Baccus (and Eugene) of Levelland, nieces D’Wanna Whitener-Smith and Becky Miller, nephews Buster Whitener, Berk Whitener, Greg Miller, Mark Baccus, Keith Baccus, Brent Baccus, and many other family members and friends who loved her.
    Gloria enjoyed her gardening, her flowers, her animals, her cooking, and her wood-working, crafts, and painting.
    A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 801 South 1st Street, Lamesa, Texas 79331 where R.C. and Gloria have been members for almost 30 years.
