Longtime plans for construction of a new dialysis/wellness center behind Medical Arts Hospital have been shelved for now, hospital officials said Thursday.
Instead, the district is eyeing different options for providing many of the same services that would have been available through the new facility.
That move was announced after directors of the Dawson County Hospital District spent just over an hour in closed session during a special called meeting on Thursday.
According to the agenda, the closed session was to allow the board to consult with an attorney about property transactions and to discuss the exchange, lease or valuation of property.
“We’re seeking an alternative to Project 3 that will cost less but expand the services that are offered,” board Chairman Cris Norris said when the board re-opened the meeting.
Project 3 has been an all-new dialysis/wellness center that hospital officials planned to build on the same property that currently houses the hospital and Medical Arts Clinic.
