        Lamesa Middle School and Lamesa High School will celebrate the accomplishments of their students for the 2017-2018 school year this coming Monday in their annual Awards Assemblies.

        The Dawson school board approved an ordinance this past Monday to set the school district’s ad valorem property tax rate at $1.17 per $100 of valuation.

    Members of the Lamesa school board and administration watch as Lamesa High School students who qualified to compete at the state level or higher were recognized at a special meeting of the school board on Tuesday evening. A total of about 125 students were recognized for their achievements in band, SkillsUSA, Certified Nursing Assistant training, Business Professionals of America, powerlifting and FFA, with several students reaching the state level in more than one program.   (LPR photo)

        Gail Borden Jr., the namesake of both the Gail community and Borden County, formally will be recognized with the dedication of a historical marker at 9 a.m. this coming Thursday, May 17, on the courthouse lawn in Gail.
