Tickets for the Friday evening meal that traditionally kicks off Lamesa’s Original Chicken Fried Steak Festival and Crossroads Balloon Rally now are available locally.
That chicken fried steak meal, which is sponsored by the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce, will be served from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the Forrest Park Community Center.
The caterer for this year’s meal again will be River Smith’s Chicken and Catfish in Lubbock, which also has prepared the chicken fried steak meal for the previous three years’ events.
Adams said the bid submitted by River Smith’s was the same as last year, so ticket prices will remain the same as last year. Those prices will be $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 11 and under.
Tickets for the dinner only are available through the Chamber and may be purchased at the Chamber office, 123 Main Avenue.
Out-of-town ticket purchasers may call the Chamber at (806) 872-2181 to reserve the number of tickets they want, Adams said.
“We’ll either mail the tickets to them once we have received payment,” Adams said, “or we can have them available for ‘will call’ at the dinner.”
The menu provided by River Smith’s for the meal offers a four-ounce cubed steak, hand battered and fried, along with side dishes of mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, rolls and River Smith’s famous puffs. Three kinds of cobbler – apple, peach and cherry – will be offered for dessert.
