Maislyn Weaver and Alexi Bushong will lead the Klondike High School Class of 2018 in graduation ceremonies this coming Friday.
    Maislyn, daughter of Jeff and Kerri Weaver, is the class valedictorian. Alexi, daughter of Tony and Sara Bushong, is the salutatorian.
    Sixteen seniors will receive their diplomas during graduation ceremonies starting at 7 p.m. Friday in the school auditorium.
    The ceremonies will include a slide show and tribute to the graduates along with the presentation of various awards and five local scholarships.
    The invocation will be given by senior Jayden Coleman and the benediction by classmate Dustin Dyck.Presenting the diplomas will be Superintendent Steve McLaren and Principal Danielle Therwhanger.
    Valedictorian Maislyn Weaver has been involved in numerous activities at Klondike.
    She served as captain of the volleyball team her junior year and co-captain her senior year, when she earned second team all-district honors. The team reached the playoffs her freshman year, the regional semifinals her junior year, and the regional finals this past year.
    Maislyn was chosen academic all-district in basketball her junior year and the team reached the regional finals her senior year.
    In FFA, Maislyn served as the chapter sentinel, reporter and vice president. She competed in Creed Speaking, Chapter Conducting, Radio, Dairy Cattle, Veterinary Science, Farm Business Management, Floriculture and Milk Quality. In Chapter Conducting the team made it to state four straight years and placed fifth this past year. Also this year the Milk Quality team she was on won state – advancing to nationals next fall – with Maislyn as the high individual in the state contest.
