Candidates for the Lamesa ISD Board, Dawson County Hospital District Board and Lamesa City Council will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves at a Candidates Forum this week.
That forum will be hosted by the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Forrest Park Community Center.
As of Wednesday morning, 11 candidates had confirmed that they would participate in the forum and confirmation by two others was pending, Chamber President Sandra Adams said.
There are 15 candidates vying for places on the three local entities, but two are unopposed in their election bids. Those unopposed races are District 6 on the City Council and Precinct 1 on the Hospital Board.
Participating candidates for the Lamesa ISD Board will lead off the forum at 6 p.m. and they will be followed by Hospital Board candidates and then the City Council candidates.
Adams said each candidate will be asked a total of five questions and will be given a maximum of two minutes per question in which to respond with an answer.
Questions from the public were to be submitted to the Chamber for consideration prior to the forum, Adams said, since no questions will be allowed from the floor on the night of the forum due to time constraints.
Dave Nix will serve as the moderator for the Candidates Forum.
