Tony Bushong, school principal at Klondike ISD for almost eight years, is expected to sign a contract next Monday to become superintendent of the City View ISD at Wichita Falls.
He was selected on Dec. 20 as the lone finalist for that position. Under Texas law, public schools must wait 21 days after naming a finalist before they can take formal action to hire a superintendent.
Bushong said he has mixed emotions about the situation. He is excited about the opportunities and challenges of becoming a superintendent, but sad to leave the school, teachers and friends he has come to love at Klondike.
“This is a great opportunity,” he said about the position at City View. “It’s just time for a new chapter and I think God opened a door for me.”
Located on the northwestern edge of Wichita Falls, City View is a Class 3A school with about 1,020 students from pre-kindergarten through high school.
The district has one elementary campus and a separate junior high/high school campus, according to the school’s website.
Bushong said he was surprised but excited to be named the lone finalist for the superintendent’s position.
